The issue is what you’re describing is the supposed ideal circumstance. Each class having power words and trade offs, and while potentially having limited access to other unique mechanics, not being able to specialize in them. The problem is that Seitaro doesn’t have many unique mechanics left. For example, weaken and invis on hunter. Weaken grenades is arguably too homogenized but that’s been a warlock identity since oppressive darkness, though I know obviously thats tether as well. Devour can be gotten by anyone and the Warlock specialization is significantly weaker since there are no ways to further enhance it. The hunters can extend their invis through exotics, have DR in their invis, etc, but theres no means to enhance devour back to even its original version of healing you to full. Every class has access to the dark matter volitaile explosions so nothing from void warlock remains as a true specialization. As you mentioned though its partially an issue with exotics not being designed with the power words in mind. Void was a mess of identities though, but it does feel like warlocks lost the most ‘identity’ toys and got nothing new from the reshuffling in return, in ‘identity’.
