[DSOD-092] For my family. Doing whatever was demanded of me. The days I spent immersed in incest are my own secret that I could never tell even if my mouth were ripped open. Natsu Tojo

And after reading it subtitled.

Wow.

Wonder how the movie ever got made.

The subject here is so dark, depressing. The mother dies young, Her father has some kind of psychotic break, rapes her, comes to, horrified, then leaves the family to never return. (But the siblings left behind get an income that keeps them in their house.) Tojo Natsu’s brother Kento Rabbit blames himself for his mom’s death, becomes a hikikomori (引きこもり or ひきこもり). And then what we see keeps happening.

Wow

The quote from Толстого / Tolstoy’s Анна Каренина, Anna Karenina at 0:0 1:27 is such a powerful warning of what is to come.

In the original:

«Все счастливые семьи похожи друг на друга, каждая несчастливая семья несчастлива по-своему»

«Vse schastlivyye sem’i pokhozhi drug na druga, kazhdaya neschastlivaya sem’ya neschastliva po-svoyemu»

And as shown on screen, in English

“Happy families are all alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.”

Wow
